In reference to the end of Lost City...as one of his fans detailed, the onslaught that has done so much harm to NYC in the past 10 years is coming to an end. It won't happen overnight, but it is happening. And not just here. The global economy is teetering on the edge of destruction, and all of the hubris and greed and vapid bloat that accompanied the credit and housing bubbles will wash away as the need for extreme austerity sets in. I'm generalizing, but to all those who mourn the death of New York, the pendulum always swings back. Yes, we'll be stuck with acres of abandoned luxury condos in various states of disrepair, but if you've lasted this long, hang on a bit longer. The sun always looks largest and most colorful just before it sets. And the culture of mindless, homogenized emptiness will also fade, and the city will be waiting for it's long lost children to reclaim the streets and alleys and rooftops.
