*Everyday Chatter

Zito's Sandwich Shoppe answers the question on every Park Slope parent's mind--and solves the babies in bars problem--"YES! We have Growlers & High Chairs." Feel free to get drunk with your baby:

Bill's Gay 90s (that fantastic spot that is completely unpretentious and accessible) is about to be ruined. [NYP]

Are we losing the famous and wonderful Mike's Newsstand Candyland from Harlem? [HB]

There are now $14 foie gras dog biscuits. [Eater]

Here come demos and condos for the corner of 12th and 3rd. [EVG]

Garment District standby Spanish Taverna has shuttered. [LC]

Tour along the Harlem River. [FNY]

Epic article on the leaders of OWS. [NYM]

The Spanish Taverna was glimpsed briefly in Taxi Driver. I'm sure whatever replaces it will be in a Katherine Heigl movie before too long.

Am depressed about Bill's Gay 90s. Wonder what'll become of the magical time-warp rooms upstairs?

The list of places I'll never again be able to afford just grows and grows.

Bill's Gay 90's- So I guess literally nothing in this city can remain untouched... literally NOTHING.
It survived the Great Depression, WWII, the 50's,60's,70's,80's,90's and first decade of the 21st century, but it can't make it through the Great Blandification without getting burned.
The egomaniacal developers and con artists who can't walk by a space with soul and history without being overwhelmed by the urge to either over renovate it into meaninglessness, or just knock it down entirely.
I would tell them to go to hell, but we're already there.

amen to that, Caleo. this one pisses me off royally.

"Growlers and high chairs" for god's sake. Leave the brats at home if you're going out for a drink! Or give a local teenager his/her first job and hire him/her to babysit! My parents NEVER took us into bars when we were little. And I certainly don't want to patronize a bar that is crawling with kids. What is wrong with these people?

I think Zito's is having a laugh at the Have-It-All Mamanista and Papanistas.

They should have a beer called the "I Am An Awesome Parent Chai Tea Harvest Pale Ale"
