*Everyday Chatter

The Homemade A Effect is sort of like the Hundredth Monkey Effect, whereby "learned behavior spreads instantaneously from one group of monkeys to all related monkeys once a critical number is reached." Not sure we've reached 100 just yet, but an eyeglass store on 8th Street adds to the number with a trio of homemade A's. Is it officially the birth of a trend?

I'm kind of new to your blog, but i've been returning almost every day since i discovered it. I just wanted to let you know that I also took a pic of this display for my blog, a couple of days a go, and i thought it was cool that we were on the same wave length. Thanks for your wonderful work!

Jeremiah- Re: "Poverty Hollow";
Have you ever read the book "Once There Was a Village" by Yuri Kapralov? A Russian born artist, poet and beautiful person, East Village denizen/artist/character himself, he: "delineates a contemporary version of Gorki's Lower Depths. This particular hell is New York's East Village, its brutalized humanity, the junkies, young runaways, Puerto Ricans, blacks, and transplanted Russians. Kapralov describes riots, muggings, drug withdrawal and mental and physical degradation in anecdotes transformed into exotica by his Slavic intensity." -- The Booklist Worth reading about an EV that wasn't "cool" or gentrified!
