Save Yourselves

A reader writes in with these photos from outside City Hall. A "rich woman" was carrying an anti-Bill de Blasio sign and arguing with passersby.

Get ready for "crime, muggings, rapes, murder," she insists. "Save yourselves, protect your children."

According to the reader, "She was saying that she worked hard for her money, and that de Blasio is now going to take away her wealth so it can be distributed to those who don't work or are lazy. Then the argument was interrupted when a couple of tourists asked where the World Trade Center is. Amazingly, both parties lowered their voices and were helpful to point it out to them."

  5. Self-delusion. I can think of several ways to keep government's hands out of my pocket that don't involve voting. She's wasting precious time shouting that could be used protecting her wealth.

Anyone see the news about the smoking age being 21 in NYC? Since 18 is no longer adulthood, I wonder how many politicians would mind restoring the voting age to 21. Or making it the draft age.

It's like when Republicans call Obama a socialist. If only...

  9. She looks like one of the "Real Housewives of New York" or their clones from New Jersey.

Incidentally, why haven't we heard from any of those brilliant social and cultural icons and beacons of civility?

  11. he does have a sketchy past i must say. as bad as obama, but hopefully not a liar. (or @least not an insulting liar, like obama). we still dont know what he will do, or NOT do. personally i dont have a terrible feeling about him like i did baracka. lets hope he can save small businesses. (??) what is suspect is that campaign ad, w/those multi millionares endorsing him. (2 from "sexinthecity" may i add). i would have prefered to see real people who dont live on park ave. interesting to note he dropped his real last name, as it is german, took his mothers maiden name. show biz, as italian is more complimentry to NYC. btw kids, your dear leader (president) is not a socialist, hes communist. whatever.

  13. laura, Obama is a communist? Wow, he must be a terrible one as the rich keep getting richer and the rest of use stay the same or get poorer, i mean when do we get to control the means of production?

Anyway, i HOPE he does everything this lady thinks he'll do.

  14. Ed Koch, after whom the 59th St Bridge is named, was asked, after he had been defeated in the primary, whether he would run as an independent; his answer?

"The people have spoken. And now, must be punished."

Anyone who votes for deBlasio will soon learn the wisdom of Koch's statement.
