Sigfrido's Barber Shop

I recently went to Sigfrido's Barber Shop for the first time.

It's on First Avenue between 22nd and 23rd Streets. It's been here for 50 or 60 years and it's not vanishing any time soon.

If you go, be sure to get the full treatment. The hot towel, the warm shaving foam, osage oil, and an old Italian man's hands on your face and head.

I guarantee, you'll walk out feeling cool, clean, and good with the world.

  1. The best...REALLY...they are the best! I've been going for years. They know how to use scissors, and are so affordable. Say 'hey' to Andy from Michelle if you go.

  2. Can't wait to send my guy over. Thanks for the great alert on this. It'll be NY as it's meant to be, right into the pores.

  3. My heart skipped a beat when I saw this headline on my RSS feed. I've been going to Sigfrido's my entire life (28 years). I can't imagine the neighborhood without them.

  6. I use to go to an old school Barber who cut Vincent Gigante's hair when he was alive in the W village.

Did a terrible job LOL. Love these old time places but they can't cut hair for jack sh*t.

  7. Andy, Mike, Bruno all have worked there as long as I've been in NYC - 30 years. Sigfrido retired some year back i think, right? And two newer guys there now. Great place!

  8. Thanks for featuring them! My childhood barber. They still remembered me after all these years. My dad is Eritrean, a former Italian colony, so would chat in italian with them.

Sigfrido retired, bruno and ultimo are still there.
    I hope in never changes.

If you go make sure you tell them it's perfect the way it is!
