The cover was shot by photographer Annie Leibovitz and won a Grammy for best Album Art.

Ms. Carmen Winonahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08001240746381837067noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-683382864156505640.post-61630445513940501442016-10-27T13:26:51.142-04:002016-10-27T13:26:51.142-04:00I remember this museum vividly. Each time my mother would take me to astroland (Now luna park) I would always ask to go to the wax museum. I was so interested in the bathtub scene and loved how the wax replicas looked so real. Astonished at 5 yrs old because they looked like people but never moved. Thank you for the great memoryAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12622755867549315484noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-683382864156505640.post-30076078781788947672016-08-18T14:35:23.666-04:002016-08-18T14:35:23.666-04:00Where did the wax figures end up?

In 1980 I took a Narga to Coney Island and, in front of the World of Wax, recored Lilly's carnival barker's pitch, "You'll see President Kennedy, Robert Kennedy and ghosts that live in your own house!" There's more, but don't remember it right now.Bobby Gnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-683382864156505640.post-19055454744211039582012-08-28T17:14:18.668-04:002012-08-28T17:14:18.668-04:00This place gave me nightmares for months. There was a tattoo parlor nearby also scary to a kid seeing grown men stripped to the waist, with ink machines and blood.

The wax museum though with its low lights and realistically gruesome depiction of horrible murders-some very current such as the recent murder of a little Puerto Rican girl, would send you back home with that imagery firmly stuck in your mind.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-683382864156505640.post-52692335341260428122011-09-06T15:25:39.381-04:002011-09-06T15:25:39.381-04:00This is truly warped and senseless, and shows that...This is truly warped and senseless, and shows that earlier generations of Americans were just as demented as our present one.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-683382864156505640.post-13504540423320736922010-06-30T16:57:55.617-04:002010-06-30T16:57:55.617-04:00Whenever my grandmother took us to Coney Island in...Whenever my grandmother took us to Coney Island in the 1960s, we were allowed one "sideshow" visit before settling onto our green army surplus blanket on the sand.
