Two Boots Seized

Two Boots Pizza on Greenwich Avenue in the Village has been seized "for nonpayment of taxes and is now in the possession of the State of New York."

A note from Two Boots in the window says the closure is only temporary and they will reopen shortly. Let's hope so.

While we're in front of this lovely antique facade, and while we've been diving into the Municipal Archives tax photos from the 1940s...

...here's what Two Boots looked like when it was the Hanscom Bake Shop.

  3. They have good vegan pizza. Sorry to see anything happen to this business.

  4. They were unable to compete with those $1 pizza slice shops that seem to be on every corner...

  6. Are all the outlets closed? Anyone know if they are all one company?

  7. When I worked in Midtown, Two-Boots was a good place to go. I loved the various references to jazz and blues musicians (Charlie Parker, Dr. John). The pizza was certainly in a much higher league than the 99¢ joints can possibly serve up. I'm still nursing a 2nd-degree burn on my lip from my last oh-I'll-just-do-this visit to one of those, months ago.
    Two-Boots was nice.

  9. Tea and Sympathy, right down the block from Two Boots, just put up a Go Fund Me page because of rising costs (rent of course being one of them). If anything happens to Tea and Sympathy, I am done with the West Village.
