FWIW, I loved the place...

But when you are one of the only spots in town doing this, it's not so horrible. Fast forward 20 years, and the whole city has become a cancer of drunken, self-obsessed noise for noise's sake.

Therein lies the rub: it's not that the city has filled up with hot mess spots, it's that it has been overrun by a deluge of folks who want to go to hot mess spots, and anything else gets washed away.L'Emmerdeurhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03004040303058104490noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-683382864156505640.post-66369885240773381952010-12-20T14:40:19.198-05:002010-12-20T14:40:19.198-05:00A great piece with wonderful links and photos. NYC used to have several L.O.L. restaurants -- Susan Prince's, the Ladies Exchange for Women's Work ..... and Ye Waverly Inn was considered one before it got a new owner. But any Schrafft's was theatre, watching a L.O.L. spend two hours with a chopped steak and several Manhattans and more cigarettes than one can afford today.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-683382864156505640.post-45157716684066068152010-12-20T10:12:36.123-05:002010-12-20T10:12:36.123-05:00thanks for the post. excellent.thanks for the post. excellent.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05729006202539563631noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-683382864156505640.post-24305902034389114132010-12-20T09:30:21.699-05:002010-12-20T09:30:21.699-05:00Thank you so much for posting this.
