Would its darkened doorways be clotted with douche bags and shopping bags?

Years have passed and I'm still having trouble facing the reality of a facade that crumbled only to leave us with... O'Connors is a hike from the others, true, but still on Fifth & there are no other older bars left on the avenue between Flatbush & the cemetery. I'm happily south of 9th & close to the cluster. Agree that the hypergentrification of pricey boutiques & destination restaurants hasn't hit Fifth south of 9th yet, but it won't be too long, alas, & we do have the vanguard of Soho bike store, condos, etc., & a lot of older, small businesses gone. Live around the corner from Timboo's & will miss it a lot.onemorefoldedsunsethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05995652957356064546noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-683382864156505640.post-90730075823088187802011-12-08T22:14:32.395-05:002011-12-08T22:14:32.395-05:00Lucky Cheng's is moving to the Times Square ar...Lucky Cheng's is moving to the Times Square area, which is actually a more appropriate venue for them and their clientele.

O'Connors shouldn't be counted in the list of bars "around" Timboos. Yes, they are both in Park Slope, in the same way that both Subway Inn and the Guggenheim are both in the Upper East Side. But O'Connor's is quite a hike from the area around and just to the south of 5th Avenue and 9th Street where you have Jackie's, Smiths, and Timboos. And having two of these around in the same area is still pretty good, though the hypergentrification to the north of 9th Street keeps threatening to leap across that boundary.Ednoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-683382864156505640.post-13182024534169392202011-12-08T17:57:58.533-05:002011-12-08T17:57:58.533-05:00Very sad about Timboo's. After it closes the only older bars left around there will be Jackie's, Smith's & O'Connors.onemorefoldedsunsethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05995652957356064546noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-683382864156505640.post-37510729528153260952011-12-08T15:16:33.546-05:002011-12-08T15:16:33.546-05:00It's getting harder and harder to find a genui...It's getting harder and harder to find a genuine dive bar with genuine local regulars. That said, the tap beer in Timboos was wretched. But then again, you don't go to dive bars for the tap beer! Although Smith's does pour a fine pint of Guinness.Katrinknoreply@blogger.com
